Union Bank Joins SMS Banking

After recently winning two awards in it’s new re-brand, Union Bank Plc has taken steps further into e-banking by keying into SMS banking. The SMS banking enable customers to do basic banking transactions such as checking of account balance, make cash transfer by simply dialing a USSD code on any phone without internet connection.

Guaranty Trust Bank has being the pioneer of SMS banking which you can open an account, check account balance, transfer funds by just dialing *737#. Therefore, you do not need an internet connection to be able to bank on the go.

Unon Bank PLC is following suit with their latest introduction of SMS banking into their banking system. However, unlike the GTB style of SMS banking, Union Bank has just one feature enabled in its SMS banking – which is the ”Check your balance”. According to them, other features like transfer funds, view transaction history, etc will be introduced with time.

For now, you can use your mobile phone to check your account balance on your Union bank account, without using the internet by just texting ”Bal” to 20123.

The old generation bank has so far lived up to it’s re-branding vision which seeks to take e-banking and retail banking to the next level in Nigeria.
