FG trains Nigerians in livestock production – FEDERAL Government, through National Directorate of Employment (NDE), has begun training of 100 Nigerians in livestock and vegetable production.
It is part of efforts to revamp the agricultural sector under NDE Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS).
Speaking yesterday at the training in Kosobo in Oyo town, NDE Coordinator in Oyo State Mrs. Olayinka Olayemi said the initiative would create more jobs, ensure food security and enhance wealth creation.
Olayemi was represented by Mrs. Oluwatoyin Aiyelagbe, head of Small Scale Enterprise Department at NDE.
She said: “The scheme, under the leadership of NDE Director-General Dr. Nasiru Ladan Argungu, has been implemented in Oyo State with support of governments, philanthropists, experts, NGOs, banks, and others.
Director of Rural Employment Promotion at NDE in Abuja Dr. Michael Mbata, represented by Mrs. Beatrice Oruoyehu, said SADTS was to ensure that agricultural production and distribution provided more revenue from farm produce, better environment and improved quality of life for farmers.

He urged beneficiaries to engage trainers/resource persons in exchanging ideas to get knowledge – vital in the value chain and address the impact of COVID-19 and unemployment.
NDE’s Oyo Head of Rural Employment Promotion Mr. Kabir Adedoja said the 100 trainees were drawn from the three senatorial districts. He said the three-month training would hold at the Agricultural Skills Acquisition Training Centre (ASTC), Onsa village, near Oyo town.
Adedoja said beneficiaries would be given stipends after the workshop, and certificates to successful participants.
Secretary of Oyo East Council Alhaji Mumini Owolabi thanked NDE for bringing the scheme to Nigeria.
